Overview
This is an ALTEC A7 H825 professional theater speaker system, released in the 1950s as part of the company’s renowned Voice of the Theatre lineup.
Of the Voice of the Theatre systems first introduced in 1945, the A7 is perhaps the best known. The project’s goal was to create the finest theater speakers possible, and their powerful sound pressure and dynamic sound quality continue to captivate audio enthusiasts today. With the addition of the A7, the Voice of the Theatre line reached more theaters and private collectors, making it a bridge between professional theaters and home audio. Like the A4 and A5, the A7 is now a highly sought-after vintage model.
Originally designed for professional use in movie theaters, the cabinet is rugged and undecorated. Its design reflects a functional beauty focused entirely on sound. This pair features the vertical boards in the bass openings that are characteristic of early models. The substantial appearance is matched by the remarkable ALTEC sound.
This system is designed to bring the atmosphere of a theater into your listening room. The cabinets are thoroughly seasoned and deliver an exceptionally open sound. Given their age, they show signs of use, including chipped paint and scratches, but are in generally good condition. We have included as many photos as possible so you can assess their condition.
The speakers are very clean overall. Please refer to the photos for details of their cosmetic condition.
